Webster University is located in Webster Groves off of East Lockwood Avenue. It is a private four-year school with undergraduate and graduate programs. The college was founded in 1915 as a Catholic women's college and was one of the first of its kind west of the Mississippi River. The college is now coeducational. The NCAA Division III sports program offers both men and women sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, cross country, soccer, tennis and more.

Founded: Founded in 1915 as Loretta College, one of the first Catholic women's colleges west of the Mississippi River. The name was changed to Webster University in 1924 to avoid confusion with another institution with the same name. In 1962, the college became a Co-Ed institution.
